G.A. FREE ARTISITRY'S FIRST MEMPHIS IN MAY!
The city’s most festive month will be capped off on Saturday, May 30, 2021 with 901Fest, the 5th annual celebration of all things Memphis, supporting local musical talent on multiple stages, local artists selling unique arts and handcrafts, delicious food from local vendors, with an airshow and spectacular fireworks finale set to Memphis music in the beautiful setting of Tom Lee Park!
DOMESTIC GALLERY EXHIBITIONS COME TO MEMPHIS
Graylon Freeman, founder of G.A.Free Artistry, was introduced to “domestic galleries” while living in California, and later, in Washington, DC, where such galleries are flourishing. The trend is taking off in every major city, i.e., Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philly, DC. There are about 200 domestic galleries in the Windy City alone.
Freeman recently moved to the Memphis area from the west coast a couple years ago, and wasn’t at all surprised to discover that the area is rich in culture, and art is holding a close second to the music industry for which the city is well known. Vending his art work is one thing, but exhibiting is another.
“Galleries are open to fewer and fewer people, and funding is virtually impossible, especially to someone new to the area, “ says Freeman Such artists have to think outside the box to find innovative ways to launch their works, particularly when they find themselves on unfamiliar ground.
Freeman is constantly in his studio building upon his collection of works in anticipation of his next gallery showing. Keep checking this site for scheduled updates. Site of GAFree Artisitry's 2020 domestic gallery exhibition -- the palatial Washington-Black Estate, located in Collierville, was the perfect setting for such an endeavor. G.A. Free Artistry showcased its Spring-Summer Collection entitled "Reverence Moves" , and it was a complete sell-out! Stay tuned for the announcement of this summer's showing.
